Her obituary from an unknown newspaper said: In the township of Webster, at the residence of Mr. George Rosier, Esq., Sept. 25, 1877, Christina Walton, in the 86th year of her age.
Mrs. Walton was born in New Jersey, but spent most of her earlier years in Bath, Steuben County, New York, her parents having moved to this place while she was yet young. In 1833, her husband, herself and family moved to Michigan. They settled in the township of Dexter on land purchased of the Government. Mrs. Walton was an energetic, industrious, honest, kind-hearted woman, possessing great power of endurance of toil or suffering. For many years past she has been a great sufferer, slowly approaching the end of life, as the weight of years and the infirmities of age increased.
Her kind attentions and tender services in the hours of afflicted and suffering will be long remembered. The day in which she accomplished the journey of life had its clouds and storms, her pathway had its dark and difficult places, but her faith in God, and her hope for the future, gave strength to her coursage, comfort to her heart, and worth to her character. She died full of years and highly esteemed by all who knew her. The funeral services were held at the residence of Mr. George Rosier, and were conducted by Rev.J.C. Wortley, Dexter.
