RONALD BRADEEN STOWERS
1936-2007

Ronald Bradeen Stowers was born on 03 Jul 1936 in Springfield, Sangamon County Illinois to Lester Bradeen "Les" Stowers and Ruby Marguerite "Marge" (Friend) Stowers. He died on 14 Jul 2007 at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal, McLean County, Illinois at the age of 71. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1954. He worked for General Telephone and Electronics Corporation in Springfield as an equipment Engineer.
He served in the United States Army for three years, spending two of those years in Naples, Italy. He was honorably discharged in August 1964 with the rank of Specialist 5. Upon being discharged from the United States Army, he returned to General Telephone and Electronics Corporation in Bloomington. Positions he held were senior engineer, planning engineer, and upon retirement in August 1993, he was building and fleet supervisor. He worked there for 40 years. While working there, he met his wife and her daughter. They became a family on 11 Sep 1965. He, also, was a member of the company bowling and golfing leagues and GTE (now Verizon) Pioneers Association.
He loved spending time with his family. One of his favorite things was going on fishing trips with his father, an avid fisherman, to Lake Shelbyville.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Normal since his marriage there in 1965. He was, also, a member of the steering committee for Habitat for Humanity in McLean County. He was part of the initial research program held at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, following his diagnosis in 1990 of Inclusion Body Myositis.
He enjoyed spending winters in Sarasota, Florida with his wife and the "Florida Gang".
He, also, enjoyed attending coin and postcard shows and antiquing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence "Tex" Todd and Neva Todd; brothers-in-law, David Todd and David Kashner; and a special aunt-in-law, Stella Gentry. He is survived by his wife, one son, one daughter, one granddaughter, two sisters, two brothers, four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, a special aunt, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
