Elizabeth Cummings Fortune, 89, died October 31, 2012, at Hospice Atlanta.

She was Born in Ware Shoals, S.C., and grew up in High Point, N.C.

She Graduated from the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina.
She was First Lady and Hostess of the University of Mississippi during her Husband's 16-year Tenure as Chancellor.

She Endowed the Fortune Gallery of the University of Mississippi Museum and Historic Houses.
She was a Member of Oxford-University United Methodist Church for 44 years.
In Atlanta, she attended Peachtree Road United Methodist Church.

A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oxford University United Methodist Church with Rev. Warren Black, Rev. Claire Dobbs and Rev. Lavelle Woodrick Officiating.
A Reception will follow in Wesley Hall.
Burial will be in Oxford Memorial Cemetery.
Waller Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by two Sons, Philip Lee Fortune and Carey Fortune; her Daughter, Jean Fortune Kaplan; seven Grandchildren; and six Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Porter Lee Fortune Jr.; and her Daughter, Janet Cummings Fortune.

Memorials may be made to the University of Mississippi Museum and Historic Houses, in care of the University of Mississippi Foundation, P.O. Box 249, University, MS 38677.
