John "Marvin" Cave passed away Sunday, July 2, 2006, at the Village of Wilkes.

He was born in Yadkin County on June 25, 1922, to the late Crawley Levi and Pheba Brindle Cave.

Mr. Cave served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945. He served in the South Pacific and participated in the New Guinea and Philippines landings during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene Dezern Cave; and three brothers, Clyde Cave, Rufus Cave and J.E. Cave.

Surviving are his sons, Donald Marvin (Bonnie) Cave of State Road and Kent Rovy (Gail) of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; four sisters, Archie Bell Groce of Yadkinville, Violet Jester of Forbush, Pansy Speer of East Bend and Ruby Finney of Jonesville; and two brothers, Ed Cave of Forbush and Junior Cave of Boonville.

His service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by VFW Post 10346.
