Carthage, Mo., Aug. 18.—C. L. Manahan, 65 years old, of near
Liberal, Mo. , was killed instantly Thursday in Barton county when his truck,stalled on a hill, backed over a steep embankment. Manahan, after leaving the car, saw it start backward and jumped on the running board to try to stop
it. He was pinned between the door and body of the truck.
