Herman Lee McConathy, 83, died Aug. 26, 2002, at his residence in Florien. He was a World war II veteran, and was married to his beloved wife, Marie, for 57 years.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Aug. 29, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, with interment following at Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Bignar, the Rev. Kenneth Leach, and the Rev. Wayne Chance officiated.
Survivors include his widow, Marie McConathy of Florien; four sons, Mike McConathy and wife Becky of Mansfield, Gary McConathy and wife Veronica of Logansport, Jimmy McConathy of Pineville, and David McConathy and wife Teresa of Anacoco; daughter, Gwen Stephen and husband Ricky of Leesville; sister, Jean Miller of DeRidder; brother Hershel McConathy of Denver, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marilyn McConathy.
Pallbearers were Brent McConathy, David Darnell, Jason McConathy, Jason Pitre, Dale Zube, and Bobby Harrison.
Honorary pallbearers were Weldon Blanco, and Billy Miller.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church Building Fund.
