Memorial services for Carl F. Chase, 84, Nampa Route 1, who died Tuesday at a Nampa hospital, will he held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Nampa First Methodist Church. The Rev. C. Keith Mills will officiate. Private interment services will follow.
Memorials may be given to the Shrine Children's Hospital or the Rupert Ranch for Youth. Shepherd Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Chase was born Feb. 4, 1881 at Jacksonville, Vt. He lived there until he was four, then moved with his parents to Pawnee City, Neb. He married Stella Stephens April 27, 1912 at Crete, Neb. He graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture, University of Nebraska. He lived in Fargo, N.D., for three years and taught school at the North Dakota State College there. He moved to Nampa in 1917 and settled in the Lone Star community.
He was a past Kiwanis lieutenant governor of Idaho and Utah, and a charter member of the Countrymen's Club. He was a member of the Methodist Church; Nampa lodge No. 29, AF&AM; Cyrus Chapter No. 3, Royal Arch Masons; Knights Templar, Boise; and El Korah Shrine Temple, Boise.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Frank Horton, Nampa, Mrs. Fred Block, Suffern, N.Y. and Mrs. Paul Murphy, Minneapolis, Minn.; a son, Carl F. Chase Jr., Nampa; a sister, Mrs. Lela Backenberg, Lincoln, Neb.; two brothers, Charles Chase, Nampa, and Linus Chase, Pawnee City, Neb., and 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
