Justice of the peace and sheriff of Glamorgan. He served as a Knight of the Shire in two Parliaments, representing East Grinstead (1553) and Arundel (1554). After 1558 he retired from public life due to his Catholicism. Three of his children sought refuge abroad. He was sent to the Tower of London in May 1561 for having used 'the miraculous cross of St Donats' to further the Catholic cause.
