Colonel Noble L. Beck (Ret USMC), was the son of Ruth and Scott Beck. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1942 and served as a parachutist before being commissioned as an officer in 1944. Noble served during three wars: World War II, where he was involved in campaigns on Guam and Iwo Jima, the Korean War, and two tours during the Vietnam War. He also was assigned to numerous overseas and state-side duty locations throughout his career. He was a highly decorated Marine whose personal achievements include the Legion of Merit with Combat V and three Gold Stars. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1974.
Upon retirement, Noble worked as the president of EQC. He also served for 22 years on the Indiana National Guard Armory Board. He belonged to the Marine Corps League, the American Legion, the Service Club, the Columbia Club, MOAA, Scottish Rite and Shrine and other military-affiliated organizations. He received the Distinguished Hoosier Award and the Sagamore of the Wabash, and numerous other personal recognitions. He headed the Indianapolis Humane Society in the 1960s. Col. Beck served as a Vice President of the State Armory Board.
Noble is survived by his wife of 65 years, Novella Beck; their children, Noble Jr. and Novella, and his sisters, Martha Sue Garrigus and Mary Lou Otting. Grandchildren include Josh, Sam (and Megan), and Novella (and Walt). He also has two great-granddaughters, Novella Rose and Hannah.
He was lovingly referred to as "The Colonel," and he firmly believed, and loved, his kin, Corps, and country.
