Hannah (Empfield) Bowers, daughter of George Ludwig and Barbara Empfield, was married about 1815 to John Bowers (1790-1865), she was his first wife. They were the parents of ten children but we only know of eight;

In 1921 Peter Bowers the 4th child of John and Hannah Bowers, told Lois (Ridgely) Murphy that there were twenty children in his family: "My father & mother had ten children and my mother died when I was between ten and eleven years old and my father married(Mary Fisher)a girl younger than my oldest sister and they had ten children."
