Obituary for Sophia Valentine Young from the Circleville Herald of Monday, January 31, 1927:
"MRS. FRED YOUNG. Died at Home of Daughter in Indiana---Burial in Forest Cemetery Monday. Mrs. Sophia Valentine Young, widow of Fred Young, a former deputy marshal of this city, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Saltzgaber, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Friday, January 28. The deceased had been ill for the past six months and her death was due to chronic nephritis. Mrs. Young was born in Circleville Township November 28, 1842. Her husband died in this city in 1906. She moved to Ft. Wayne in 1916. Besides her daughter, she is survived by two sons, Harry Young, of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Floyd Young, of Washington Township. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Valentine. She was married to Fred Young in 1873. Besides three grandsons, she is survived by one brother, Josiah Valentine, of Washington Township. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church from infancy. When she was a year old, she was baptized in the faith by Rev. Joseph Roof. The remains arrived in this city Sunday evening and were taken in charge by Mader & Ebert and the funeral was held in their parlors Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. J. M. Wenrich, of Stoutsville, officiated. Interment in Forest Cemetery."
