Nelda Sue Cowan Beck, 72, Henderson, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007.

She was a member of Watson Lane Baptist Church and of American Legion Worsham Post No. 40 Auxiliary for 50 years, where she held offices on local, district, state, and national levels. She was Secretary/Treasurer for local unit 40, 2nd District President, Historian, Chaplain, 2nd Vice President, 1st Vice President and President for the State of Kentucky as well as National Executive Committee. She was a Kentucky Colonel. Above all else, she was a precious, loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Alvin R. Beck, who died March 2, 2005; and by her parents, Frank Lee and Annell Griffey Cowan.

Survivors include three sons, Franklin Klee Poole and his wife, Kim, Alan Richard Beck and his wife, Robin, and Mark Davis Beck, all of Henderson; two sisters, Nancy L. Taylor and Shirley B. Shelby, both of Henderson; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry L. Pearcy will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Larry Pendergraft, Jerry W. Beck Jr., James Hanley, Calvin Beck Jr., Edward Beck and Anthony Beck.
