Services were held Thursday at Washington Street Church of Christ with Eugene Peden and James Norman officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens with Gallant Funeral Home in charge.
A native of Lincoln County, Mr. Thornton was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Lusettie Carter and Mrs. Gladys Lasater, both of Fayetteville, Mrs. Mattel Culps of Ardmore, and Mrs. Inez Lawson of Upsilanit, Michigan; a son, William Thornton, Fayetteville; a sister, Mrs. Louanna Roland, Fayetteville; a brother, Presley Thornton, Fayetteville; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
