Melvin Byron Farrant was born January 1,
1892 at the Farrant home in Clear Fork
Township south of Frankfort, Kansas. His
parents were Alfred K and Ollie Farrant.
He passed away at the Dechairo Hospital
in Westmoreland, Kansas on October 11,
1975 at the age of 83 years. His early
schooling was at the Barrett School District
No. 1 of Marshall County.

On March 2, 1920 he was married to Lillian
Reust. They celebrated their fifty-fifth
wedding anniversary this past year.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian of the home
his children, Mrs. Margaret Biedron, North
Chicago, Illinois, William F. Farrant, Frank-
fort, Kansas, Mrs. Katherine Knapp, San
Jose, California and Frank Farrant, Topeka,
Kansas. He is also survived by twelve grand-
Children, one great-grandchild, one niece
and four nephews, his sisters, Mrs. Clara
Champagne, Newburg, Oregon, and Mrs.
Mary Bronaugh, Frankfort, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and
one brother, John Delwin.

The family lived on the farm where Mr.
Farrant was born, until two years ago when
they moved to Frankfort. He served on the
Barrett School Board, was a committeeman
in Clear Fork Township for many years. He
was a member of the Odd Fellow and Rebekah
Lodges and a member of the United Methodist
Church of Frankfort, Kansas.

Funeral services were held Wednesday,
October 15, 1975 at the Frankfort United
Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with the
Reverend Wayne Feurerbacher and Reverend
Coyne Gifford officiating.

Pallbeares were Cerry Williams, Francis
Harland, Lyle Jones, Fred Morton, Dale
Dunlap, Harold Haskins, Bill Parmentier
and Bob Jones.

Honorary pallbearers were A.E. Hale, Howard
Bronaugh, Ralph Cummins, Wilbur Coffee,
J.D. Anderson, Lawrence C. Neal, Ed Keller,
and Dave Fansher.

Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
