Glenn De Kock was born on September 11, 1928, to Jasper "Jap" and Minnie (Bogaards) De Kock. He was raised on the family farm in the Sandridge area north of Pella. Glenn graduated from the Pella High School with the class of 1946.

Glenn was a carpenter for most of his life, working mainly in the Pella area. On November 26, 1966, he was united in marriage with Charlene Gosselink Van Dyk in Missouri. Glenn enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and Tulip Time. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether going to their events or working on their homes, Glenn loved them all dearly. Glenn also had fun with his Saturday morning breakfast club and was actively involved as a "With Love Toy Ministry" Board Member. He also was instrumental in planning Heartland Reformed Church, sitting on the steering committee and serving as an elder. Glenn passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines at the age of eighty-three.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Charlene, of Pella, Iowa; his children from his first marriage: Ken (Claire) De Cook of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Don (Elaine) De Kock of Pella; and Becky (Paul) Kaefring of Iowa City, Iowa; his step-children: Ron (Rosemarie) Van Dyk of Tama, Iowa; Cheri (Arlyn) Klyn of Pella; and Randy (Michelle) Van Dyk of Tama; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two nephews; one niece; and several cousins. He will also be greatly missed by the loyal dog Harley.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Fred De Kock and Marion De Kock; and two brothers and one sister in infancy.
