Cathy McNamara, 98, of Seattle, WA passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2012.

Cathy was born on July 30, 1914 in Miles City, Montana to William and Mary Chambers. Cathy grew up in Montana and North Dakota in a large family with five brothers and two sisters.

She obtained a teaching certificate and taught in a small country school before moving to Seattle in 1937.

In the spring of 1944 Cathy enlisted in the US Marine Corp and proudly served our country for three years, rising to the rank of lieutenant before being discharged and returning to Seattle in 1946.

In October of 1946 she met her future husband of 64 years at an ice dancing class at the Ballard Ice Arena. She was married on May 3, 1947 at St. Anne's Catholic Church on Queen Anne Hill.

Cathy was known for her subtle sense of humor, love of world travel, as well for the generous and selfless giving of her time to Our Lady of Fatima Church and the surrounding Magnolia community.

She is survived by her sisters, Margaret and Patricia, her children, Patty, Sue, Mary Beth and Bob; her grandchildren, Scott, Casey, Julie, Riley, Jack; and her great grandchildren, Isabelle and Bradley.
