Alvis H. "Pod" Turner, age 87, of Atlanta, Texas died Friday, November 23, 2012 in a local adult care facility.

Pod was born November 24, 1924 in Atlanta, Texas to Albert and Jannie Turner. He was a United States Navy Veteran where he served during World War II. Pod was retired from Brown's Tire Service and was also an avid musician. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Johnnie Lou Turner; his parents, and ten brothers and sisters.

He is survived by one son, Randee Turner and wife Janice of Atlanta, Texas; daughter in law, Judy Turner of Atlanta, Texas; four grandchildren, Jessica Preece and husband Derek of Blackfoot, Idaho, Sharla Garrett of Ogden, Utah, Jeremy Turner and wife Lisa of Blackfoot, Idaho, Derek Turner and wife Casey of Arlington, Texas; eleven great grandchildren, and a number of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Antioch Cemetery with military rites.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Hanner Funeral Service.
