Kathleen "Kay" Jean Cottom (nee McDonald), 88, of Columbia Station passed away on November 22, 2012. She was born on January 4, 1924 in Cleveland.

Kay was a tireless volunteer in the community for many years, and an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. She enjoyed baking and cake decorating, gardening and yoga. Even though she was a mother of 11 children, she was a mother and mentor to many people in the community; the door was always open.

Kay is survived by her loving children Linda (Bob) Holland, Mary Broberg, Virginia Taylor, Julia Cottom, James Cottom, Tim (Shelly) Cottom, Maureen (Brian) Mittelstaedt, John (Tina) Cottom, Michael (Charmae) Cottom, Kathleen (Andre) Cuthrell and Martin Cottom; 17 treasured grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister Betty Springer.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Edward of 67 years, sister Virginia, brother James and her parents, James and Grace (nee Wright).

Family will receive friends on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Waite and Son Funeral Home (3300 Center Road, Brunswick 44212).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (25801 Royalton Road, Columbia Station 44035).

Burial will follow at Columbia Township Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Kathleen's memory to the Alzheimer's Association (PO Box 74924, Cleveland 44194-4924).
