The three Roddeys to come over in 1785 were David Roddey,who had been a soldier in Col. Banastre Tarletons's cavalry. William D. Roddey who was Jane's great-grandfather and Andrew. David Duncan Roddey married Elizabeth White from around Landsford.Their son Thomas White Roddey was Jane's Grandfather He married Ruth Amanda Cherry. They had 6 children listed in 1860 Census. William Plott 11, Judson 10, Gregg 8, Newton 7, Martha M 5, and Thomas 2. Gregg W. Roddey married Esther (Mamie) Lenora Ferguson Roddey and they had 3 sons and 1 Daughter JANE. Banks Clyde and Wade Barber never married and the other brother Marvin Marion Roddey who had three daughters Bettie G, Ruth H, and Nancy F. Roddey. Marvin Marion Roddey was in Chatanooga Tenn in 1930 cencus. Wade Barber Roddey worked for many years in thread mill in Gastonia, N.C.and he did a large amount of research on his family which was given to Winthrope College Library in Rock Hill, S.C. David Roddey settled in York Co and Andrew must have gone west as so many others about that time. David Roddey returned to England after the revolution and in a few years returned to America with his wife Helen Ferguson Roddey and his two brothers in 1785. Andrew and William Duncan. Roddey.
