Kim was born August 1, 1967 in Ortonville, Minnesota the son of David and Donna Behlings Poel. He graduated from Milbank High School in 1986, where he was known in wrestling as the "human helicopter". Kim served in the U.S. Army reserves for 4 years, and was honorably discharged in 1990. Kim attended Northern State University in South Dakota. He married Patricia Meyer June 1, 2002 in Galena, Illinois. Kim worked as a T1 Technician for McLeod. He was also a representative of Prepaid Legal in Cedar Rapids.
Kim is survived by his wife Patty, children Chad Meyer and Ashley Schonberg all of Cedar Rapids; his mother Donna Poel of Milbank, South Dakota; a brother Chad (Monique) Poel of Nashville, Tennessee; sisters Kimberly (John) Zarr of Anchorage, Alaska, Tanya (Chris) Reil of Millbank, South Dakota, Buffie (Gary) Ruhr of Big Stone, South Dakota, and Lisa (Jeff) Borders of Annandale, Minnesota.
Preceding him in death was his father, David Poel.
