He wed Mary Ida Lloyd
(b: 1870 OH - d: 01 Dec 1932 Pontiac, Oakland, MI
Elial was listed as a widower on that date in the 1940 Detroit, MI Census. He was living with his son Lee and his family. Elial & Mary had these four children:
Blanche Gertrude Ellis b 23 Dec 1888 OH
d 21 Nov 1905
Blanche died as a result of being thrown by, or falling off of a horse. She died about one month before her 17th birthday.
Lloyd Ellis b 28 Jul 1890
d 12 Jul 1891 (infantile paralysis)
Lee DeMott Ellis b 26 Aug 1892 Covington, KY
d 09 Nov 1945 Detroit, MI
--Lee married twice, and had two children from his first
marriage, was a widower, and remarried. He then had three children with his second wife. He died at the age of 53. Lee's parents were not in Kentucky for long. I assume that it may have related to employment or family matters. Also, I recently learned that different rivers or waterways come together in that general area of Kentucky. That would be a good location for certain types of businesses. So that may relate to the reason they were down there.
