Charles Giesecke, our old salt man, is dead. The last storm caught Mr. Giesecke at Ada, 15 miles from home. It was too much for such an oldman and he took a severe cold and ashma and died last Sabbath evening. He was 65 years, 5 months and 17 days. He was a very powerful strong man. He was born in Gittelda, Germany and had a common school education, and was baptized in the Lutheran Church. He came to American in 1881 and had lived in Lincoln County 15 years. He leaves by his first marriage 2 sons and 2 daughters. His second wife and her daughter survive him and live at their home in Pleasant Dale, Colbert, Kansas. Of his first children, 1 son and 1 daughter live in Germany, and 1 son and 1 daughter live in Illinois. He has two brothers living in Ottawa Co., Kansas and 1 in Germany. We shall miss Mr. Giesecke. May Good bless all neighbors, care for the dear wife and daughter who mourn the loss of a true helper. He was buried at Colbert Cemetery. (Colbert is now known as Hammer Cemetery.)
