Dorothy "Sunny" Danielson, 84, of Hayward and formerly of Chicago, went home to meet her Lord and Savior Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Dorothy Jane Danielson was born Sept. 14, 1928 in Cloquet, Minn., the daughter of Erland and Impi (Anderson) Sunnaborg. Dorothy graduated from Cloquet High School and went on to graduate from St. Luke's Nursing School in Duluth in 1949. She worked as a surgical supervisor and in hospital administration. On April 6, 1986, Dorothy was joined in marriage to Robert Danielson in Chicago.

While living in Chicago, she enjoyed sailing with Bob on their sailboat and going to Cubs games. They also had season tickets to the Chicago Symphony and she volunteered as a guide at the Chicago Art Institute. Dorothy and Bob also served on the board of Lutheran Brotherhood. Dorothy was active in Christian Women's Club and in 1996 was named Volunteer of the Year by the Sawyer County unit of The American Cancer Society.

If you met Dorothy, she would tell you in the first five minutes of her love of Jesus and that she was licensed in seven states as an RN.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Bob of Hayward; children Kathy (Mark) Kelly of Duluth, Kristi (Gordon) Adell of Chicago, Karen (Mark) Hutchison of Morton, Ill., Jonathan (Cathy) Nordstrom of Williston, Tenn., and Jayson (Krystyna) Nordstrom of Chicago; step-daughters Debra (Dennis) Sadlicki of Bartlet, Ill., Phyllis (Raymond) Krug of Peachtree City, Ga. and Janette Rameriz of Chicago; and14 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Kathy (Arnold) Ahlgren of Hayward and Shirley (Harold) Myrmel of Bloomington, Minn.; brothers Arnold (Ruth) Sunnaborg of Esko, Minn., Earl (Shirley) Sunnaborg of Hibbing, Minn. and Tom (Yvonne) Sunnaborg of Bemidji, Minn.; and her sister-in-law, Marion Sunnaborg of Tempe, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughters Sharon and Susan; a brother, Howard Sunnaborg; and a sister- and brother-in-law, Verna and Kenneth Hendrickson.

Funeral: The funeral service for Dorothy was held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hayward with Pastor Nathan Radke officiating.

Interment: Burial took place in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
