Joseph F. Adams was born in Washington,
County Iowa on August 17, 1859, and died
at his home in Frankfort, Kansas on
December 22, 1920 at the age of 61 years
4 months and 5 days.

He spent his boyhood days in Iowa, where
he grew to manhood and married to
Rebecca A. Cranston on October 6, 1881.
to this union was born one daughter, Mrs.
O.L. Dalton, who was at his bedside during
his illness and death.

Immediately after his marriage he came to
Marshall County, Kansas and resided on a
farm until 1898,when he moved into Frank-
fort, and was associated with William
Holtman in the grocery business for sixteen
years. Upon Mr. Holtman’s death, he with
his son-in-law, Oliver Dalton purchased the
grocery store, and was engaged in that
business at the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife,
and daughter Mrs. O.L. Dalton and two
grandchildren; his aged mother, Mrs. Ira
Adams, of Iowa City, Iowa; five sisters
Mrs. Joseph Moler and Mrs. A.E. Lantz,
of Iowa City, Iowa, Mrs. F.D. Owen of
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. C.C. Lantz of
Pierre, South Dakota.

His father Ira Adams, a brother, George
W. Adams and a sister, Mrs. Fred Green
have preceded him in death.
