Mrs. Amanda Jane Hendrix Starnes (or "Jennie") was the daughter of James Morris Hendrix, Sr., and Emily Pearson. Her parents' burial locations are unknown.

Jennie married James David Starnes, Sr., about 1882 in either Cherokee Co., Ala or Polk Co., Ga. [Their marriage record may have been lost in a courthouse fire.]

When one of their sons lost his sight at a young age, they moved to Atlanta, Georgia so he could attend the school for the blind.
