CAVETOWN - Shirley Y. Baughman, 62, of Mapleville Road, died Monday, July 6, 1998, at her home.

Born Jan. 27, 1936, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Arlie R. and Nellie Hymes Nelson.

She was a 1992 graduate of Hagerstown Business College.

She retired from the Maryland Department of Social Services after 27 years, receiving a Governor's Citation for excellence.

She was a member of Christ Fellowship Assembly of God, Hagerstown.

She is survived by three daughters, Debra J. Pennesi of Cavetown, Dawn J. Bailey of Statesville, N.C., and Chrissy Grove of Westminster, Md.; a son, John Bradford Bixler of Westminster; two sisters, Arlene Horst and Eva Boward, both of Hagerstown; three brothers, Granville Nelson of Smithsburg, Timothy D. Nelson of Cumberland and Gerald W. Nelson of Ridgeley, W.Va.; five grandchildren; 18 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert Nelson and Ernest Nelson.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Christ Fellowship Assembly of God, 17544 York Road, Hagerstown. Pastor Dan Nason will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Debra J. Pennesi, P.O. Box 268, Smithsburg, Md. 21783.
