SGT Herbert F. Fleming Jr. served during World War 2 in the United States Army Air Forces. He served in the 338th Bomb Squadron which was attached to the 96th Bomb Group of the US 8th Air Force in Europe. The 96th Bomb Group flew out of RAF Snetterton Heath located in Attleborough, Norfolk, England.
SGT Fleming was a radio operator crew member of the B-17 flying fortress "Dear Mom", #42-3556. He was wounded in action on 13 Feb 1944 and the "Dear Mom" crash-landed at RAF West Malling in Kent bringing him home.
