On Wednesday November 21, 2012 the Angels came for our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother William F. "Bill" Steffen, 93 of the Good Samaritan Home.

Born March 18, 1919 in Steffenville, Missouri, the son of Cecil Wayne and Anna Lee Wear Steffen. He married Betty Jean Schnellbacher on January 31, 1942 in Edina, Missouri. She survives.

Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. He especially enjoyed racing boats at Twin Oaks and drag racing cars at Kahoka, Mo with his son Terry. He was a member of Rocky Point and Twin Oaks Clubs. He was a past member of the North Side and South Side Boat Clubs and the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Bill was employed at the Black and White Limestone Company and Calcium Carbonate for 30 years. He then was employed for Davis Construction Company and drove a truck for Fresen Trucking Company until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife Betty; one son Terry Lee Steffen; two daughters Sandra Jean Grannan and Billie Ann Steffen-Riddle (Roy) all of Quincy; five grandchildren Todd Lee Grannan, Robert Jeffrey Grannan, Greg William Grannan all of Sarasota, FL, Steven Lee Steffen and Kurt Alan Steffen both of Quincy; ten great grandchildren Stephanie Steffen-Tarr, Ashley Grannan, Danielle Grannan, Harley J. Kindhart, Taylor Steffen, Cassy Steffen, Nicole Grannan, Garrett Grannan, Jessie Lee Grannan and Macy Grannan; two great great grandchildren Damon and Dillon Steffen. Also surviving is one sister Wilma Sprick of Quincy and several loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Steffen was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Elmo, John Robert "Bob" and Donald Payne Steffen, three sisters JoAnn Vosburgh, Edith Lorenz and Wanna Lee Perrigo.

Funeral services will be held Saturday (December 1, 2012) afternoon at 2:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor James Riley officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday (November 30, 2012) evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers of Good Samaritan Home for all their support and wonderful care.
