She was born on September 24, 1942, in St. Louis, MO, the child of Ernest and Mildred (Bowman) Gau. After attending the local schools, she married the love of her life, Melvin Hopkins. The happy couple was blessed with three children: Daryl, Jeff, and Lisa. Doris enjoyed being able to stay home with her husband and children and care for all of their needs. She was a kind and loving mother, and her children meant everything to her. She will be remembered lovingly by all those who knew her.
Doris is survived by her children: Daryl Hopkins, of Bonaparte, Iowa, Jeff Hopkins and wife, Tracy of St. Louis, and Lisa Jurgens of Hannibal, her grandchildren: Owen Johnson, Jonas Jurgens, Makenzie Hopkins, Angela Hopkins and Tommy Hopkins, as well as several great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband, Melvin Hopkins.
