Eleanor Clark was born near Perth, Canada September 26, 1848.
When a child she moved with her parents, brothers, and sister to Flat Rock, Michigan, where her father engaged in the lumbering business.
About two years later her father and oldest brother were drowned in a sail boat returning home from a business trip across White Fish Bay, a small bay of Green Bay.
Her mother and children returned to Perth, Canada, for a year or two then moved to Green Bay, Wis., where they lived until the summer of 1862 when they moved to Red Wing, Minn. In January 1864 they came to Prescott, where her mother died in February, 1892.
September 1, 1869 Eleanor Clark was united in marriage to Frances H. Dudley at Hasting, Minn., in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, by Rev. John Williams. Three children were born to her, twin boys, who died in infancy and one daughter who survives her.
At an early age Mrs. Dudley was baptized into the Episcopal Church and was confirmed in Christ church at Red Wing by Bishop Whipple. She died at Prescott, Saturday, July28, 1906 at 2 o'clock a.m. and was laid to rest Monday morning, July 30, in Pine Glen cemetery near the pines she loved so well. Mr. Rollett, of Red Wing, read the burial service of the Episcopal church of her faith and love as it was of her ancestors for centuries.
Mrs. Dudley leaves a husband, daughter, brother, and sister to mourn their loss.
