Joe P. Lyle, age 95, of Sevierville, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 24, 2012. Joe was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in agriculture. Joe lived in Lee County, Virginia for 42 years where he served the county as Agriculture Extension
Agent ''County Agent,'' for 33 years. Joe was a proud WWII veteran serving in the Army Counter Intelligence Core, primarily in Japan. He treasured farming and sharing stories as well as garden produce with his friends. He was a member of Seymour United Methodist Church in Seymour, Tennessee and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Preceded in death by his devoted wife of 67 years, Pauline Hammer Lyle; daughter Maxine Lyle Plummer; his parents Bessie Thomas Lyle and Paul Summers Lyle; sisters Mary Jo McNeil and Frances Williams; and brothers, Summers, Tom, and Marvin Lyle.

He is survived by his son, Sam Lyle and his special friend Kay Wilde; son-in-law John Plummer; grandchildren, Paul and Cassie Plummer, Amy and Chris Weatherly; great-grandchildren, McKindry, R.J. and Caleb Plummer; and brother, Jim Lyle and wife Dorothy Gibbs.

Memorials may be made to any of the following: Seymour United Methodist Church, 107 Simmons Road, Seymour, TN 37865; Heifer International, 1 World Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72202; or, Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church.

Funeral service 7 PM Wednesday, November 28, in Atchley's Seymour Chapel with Rev. Cable Trent officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 AM Thursday, November 29, at Shiloh Cemetery in Pigeon Forge for interment with Rev. Cable Trent and Pastor Jason Gattis officiating.
