Mr. Jimmy Don Slaughter, 65, of Fountain Hill, died Sunday, November 25, 2012. Mr. Slaughter was a native and life long resident of Fountain Hill. He graduated from Fountain Hill High School in 1965 and he was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Vietnam Era. He retired from Wal-Mart in 2000, and served on the Fountain Hill City Council. He was a member of the Judson Missionary Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clinton (Son) & Betty Jean Craig Slaughter.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lizzette Gray Slaughter; a son, Brian Slaughter and wife, Amy; a daughter, Chanelle Sledd and husband, Larry, all of Fountain Hill; two sisters, Carolyn Jeffers and husband, John, of Fountain Hill and Penny Moffatt and husband, Frank, of Hamburg; six grandchildren, Miranda Turner and husband, Chad, Johnathon Burgess, Johnathan Dawson and wife Tiffany, Kenzie Slaughter and fiancé, Steven Cross, Morgan Dawson and Son Slaughter; a great-granddaughter, Grayson Turner; extended family, John & Tonya Burnside and children and Kody Sawyer and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lane Amos and Rev. Roy Craig officiating. Burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Johnathan Dawson, Johnathon Burgess, Steven Cross, Son Slaughter, Trent Burnside, Steven Burnside and Chad Turner.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
