Curtis Lamar "Marty" Rutherford, III, 49, son of Allyse T. Reese and the late Curtis Lamar Rutherford, died October 26, 2010, in his home surrounded by his immediate family. Marty was born August 27, 1961, in Greenville, Mississippi. He was baptized and confirmed at St. James Episcopal Church. Marty attended both primary and secondary schools in Greenville and graduated Cum Laude from Greenville High school in May 1979. After high school graduation he spent one year at Mississippi Delta Junior College and upon moving to Beaumont enrolled as a student at Lamar University. After his years at Lamar, Marty embarked on a twenty year career with Chas S. Nacol Jewelers, where he worked not only at the Colonade store, but the Port Arthur and Orange stores as well. When not working, Marty loved bowling. He belonged to three different bowling leagues in this area, and during these years brought home numerous trophies and awards, even bowling perfect score games in July 2000 and February 2004. For his February, 2004, 300 game the American Bowling Congress recognized his achievement by placing his 300 game on permanent display at the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Missouri. He is survived by his beloved mother, Allyse Reese; sisters, Beverly Kohler, and Lisa Wolf; brothers, Mark Rutherford, Patrick Rutherford, and Richard Reese; nieces, Stephanie Martindale, Allyse Gregory, Evelyn Spencer, Jamie Anderson, and Hallie McCracken, and nephew, Paul Kohler, along with great nieces, Lorna Herff, Addison Rutherford, Lily Martindale, and Ava Anderson; great nephews, Geoffrey Gregory, Caleb Gregory, Seth Spencer, Cameron McCracken, Jackson Reid, and Lucas Anderson. A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 30, 2010, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 680 Calder, Beaumont, with burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will be 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2010, at Broussard's. Memorial contributions may be made to West End Animal Clinic, 14 Plaza Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77706. So many love him and so may will miss his charm and his passion for living.
