Noel F. Arnold, of Quincy, passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 at the age of 80. Born in Boston where he was raised and educated, he lived in Dorchester before moving to Quincy 47 years ago. A Korean War Veteran, US Army, Noel was the recipient of the Bronze Star, worked in the maintenance dept of Quincy City Hospital for 20 years and was a member of the George F. Bryan Post, the Morrisette Post, the American Legion Post 95 and was a Life Member of the DAV. The beloved husband of Josephine F. "Jo" "Joan" (O'Connor) Arnold, Noel was the loving father of Stephen Arnold and his wife Jean of Tucson, AZ, Kathleen McCarthy and her life partner Jennie of Providence, and Neil Arnold and his wife Mary of Scituate; dear grandfather of Michael and Matthew McCarthy, Liam and Aidan Arnold and Red Dog; caring brother of Catherine Bergstrom of FL and the late Patricia O'Shea and Buddy Arnold. He was a wonderful uncle and friend to many. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm St., Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be gathering at the funeral home at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 550 Washington St., Quincy. Burial with Military Honors will be at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery. Noel's family wants to express their many thanks for the kind care of his hospice team.
