Age 78 years. Son of Jonathan and Sarah (Gaylord) Cowls. Married Christian Graves on July 7, 1770. Moved to Leverett by the year 1772 and lived there all his life. On March 19, 1806 he married his second wife, Marsy (Smith) Marsh, from Hadley, daughter of Windsor and Sarah Smith.

(The Cowls surname is also spelled Cowles in certain vital records.)
