Funeral services for John Oliver Richardton, 86, former Griggs Farmer, will be held in the Presbyterian Church of Hannaford this afternoon, Rev. C. C. Converse officiating.

Pallbearers chosen include Bob Martin, Frank Paulson, Asher Anderson, Oscar Ouren, Ward Wical and Dave Stone.

Richardson, well-known among the residents of southern Griggs County passed away Sunday at the home of his son Walter Richardson of Hannaford. Death was attributed to complications attendant upon old age.

He was born October 11, 1852, at Neville's Island, Penn., upon which a portion of the city of Pittsburg now stands. In 1874 he was married to Miss Marian Virginia Rouppe at Allegheny, Penn., and to this union six children were born: Walter of Hannaford; Mrs. Perry Haugen of Wheeler, Mont.; Oliver of Kalispell, Mont.; Mrs. H. B. Nelson of Cooperstown; and Harvey and Margaret Alen Solberg, both of whom preceded him in death.

In 1884 he took his family to Wisconsin where he engaged in farming until 1902. His first wife died in 1891 and some years later he married Mrs. Melissa Mann of Ellsworth, Wisconsin. Seven children were born to this union; Mrs. Alvin Johnon of Menahga, Minn.; Mrs. James Ableman and Mrs. Clarence Dunn of Bellingham, Wash.; Lyman of Janesville, Wisconsin; and Roy and Jack of Hannaford.

In 1902 he came to Griggs County and began farming east of Hannaford on the Sheyenne River and continued there for twenty years. In 1922 he moved into Hannaford and has made his home there since.

Other survivors include two brothers and three sisters, 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
