Civil War Union Army Surgeon. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, he was commissioned Assistant Surgeon, Field and Staff, 106th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry on November 1, 1861. He served until he was discharged by General Order on September 6, 1862 to accept the commissioned of Surgeon, Field and Staff, 119th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. Mustered in on September 16, 1862, he served until honorably mustered out on June 19, 1865.

On January 17, 1884 he filed for a US Army Invalid Veteran Pension (Application #504161, Certificate #273618, PA).

On May 7, 1891 his wife, Penelope M. Leidy, filed for a US Army Widow’s Pension (Application #512226, Certificate #316447, PA).
