Albert O. Vandal, 80, Minot, died Wednesday, October 12, 2005, in a Minot hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Albert was born on February 22, 1925, in Rolette County, ND, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Gladue) Vandal. He was educated in country school and worked on his family farmstead in Rolette County. Albert was once married to Betty Jean Evenson who died in 1953.

Albert married Florence "Edie" Evans, on April 26, 1955, in Dunseith, ND. The couple lived in Dunseith for a short time before moving to Minot in 1955, where he worked for Home Builders Lumber Yard. In 1956, along with his brother, Leo Vandal, Albert built the Starlite Club in north Minot, a club that he owned and operated for a few years until he purchased the 83 Club in south Minot.

Albert retired in 1983. After his retirement Albert along with his wife Edie enjoyed traveling visiting family and friends and spending time at their cabin at Lake Metigoshe. Albert also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and riding snowmobile.

He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Lodge, Minot Gun Club and the Minot Association of Wood Builders.

Survivors: wife, Edie, Minot; children, Barbara Worden, Ventura, CA, Terry (Luci) Vandal Garrison, ND, Debra (Ron) Williams, Navarre, FL, Pamela (Tige) Engelhard, Minot, Missy (Roger) Barden, Minot; grandchildren, Teri ( Mark) Cassio, Kelly Lovejoy, Alesha Vandal, Kayla (Darin) Vangsness, Lindsey Vandal, Amanda Williams, Alexandria Williams, Paul Gilles, Josie Gilles, Paxton Engelhard, Parker Engelhard, Austin Barden and Garret Barden, eight great-grandchildren, sister, Evelyn (Edward) Berube, Rolette, ND; sister-in-law, Edna Vandal, Bottineau, ND; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, granddaughter, Cynthia Worden, his parents, brothers, Carris and Leo Vandal and sister, Lillian Albrecht.

Funeral: Monday, October 17, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Saturday, October 15, 2005, noon-5:00 and Sunday, October 16, 2005 from 9:00-4:00 at T-L.

Rosary: Sunday, October 16, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. at the church.

Albert O. Vandal, 80, Minot, died Wednesday, October 12, 2005, in a Minot hospital surrounded by his loving family.
