CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIES AT GILDFORD
Alpheus A. Brundage, 86, Civil War veteran living north of Gildford, died Wednesday evening at his home.
Mr. Brundage was born in New York and came to this section of the country several years ago. There were 12 children in the family, 8 living. Mr. Brundage of Gildford is the only surviving relative here.

Veteran of Civil War Passes On At Ripe Old Age. Gildford Resident Who Served In The Michigan Military Dies At Havre
Gildford, June 7--On Sunday, June 5, the funeral services of Civil War veteran Alpheus A. Brundage of Gildford was held under the auspices of the American Legion post of Havre. Long before the hour of service every available seat was taken.
Alpheus A. Brundage was born Jan. 12, 1841 at Cayuga, N.Y., the oldest of a family of 12 children, and died June 1 at Havre. He enlisted during the civil war and served in Company E, sixth Michigan heavy artillery until the end of the war, when he was honorably discharged from the service at New Orleans. He was a member of the G.A.R. in Michigan and later transferred to Everett, Wash. Since 1916 he made his home with his brother, O.G. Brundage and family of Gildford.
The full rites of the burial ceremonies of the American Legion were carried out by the Havre post at the cemetery. This was the first military ceremony ever conducted at Gildford.
