HENRIETTA SCHUITEMAN was born on September 24, 1907, on a farm northwest of Sioux Center, Iowa to Gerrit and Hattie (Groeneveld) Schuiteman. The farm is now occupied by Bernice and Howard Sandbulte, as niece of Hennie's. Hennie attended country school for nine years. She later moved with her family into Sioux Center.

In Hennie's 96 years of life she saw many changes. She personally felt the major change was transportation; going from a team of horses on a buggy or bob sled to cars and airplanes.

After Hennie's father died, she cared for her mother for many years. She also continued worked as a reporter for the Sioux Center News; a stint which lasted 46 years.

Hennie herself lived independently until June of 2001 at age 93, she became a resident of the Sioux Center Nursing Facility.

Hennie is survived by several nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother John Schuiteman and three sisters: Ann, Mrs. Gerrit Hulstein, Allie, Mrs. Sam Schut and Priscilla, Mrs., Ed J. Vermeer.

Through the years, Hennie enjoyed doing handwork such as afghans, doilies, rugs and blankets for nearly everyone in her family.

Hennie also liked baking, specializing in pies, bread and rolls. Several years ago her failing health forced her to relinquish her hobbies, however, her continued to thoroughly enjoy visiting with those who called on her.

The interest, concern (worry), care and love which Hennie displayed for her family members and friends will always be remembered.
