Mary Kadish Eisenstein beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Harry Eisenstein. Mary was born in London, England and grew up in Chicago, where she met and married Harry, the man she adored till the day she died. They eventually settled in San Antonio. Mary is survived by her children Abram Eisenstein, Michael Eisenstein and Ayn Eisenstein Phillips, grandchildren Jennifer Ironstone, Aaric Eisenstein, Adam Eisenstein, Gwen Eisenstein Kohn, Philip Stark, Michelle Stark and Michelle Moses-Eisenstein, and great grandchildren Ital Ironstone, Jonah Lauten, Noah Kohn, Max Harris Eisenstein, Jacob Harrison Stark and Goldie May Stark. She was a compassionate and caring mother who was devoted to her family, faith, friends and community. The synagogue was a dominant part of her life and she spent many hours volunteering, teaching Sunday school, serving as president of the Sisterhood, and actively participating in the services and activities of Agudas Achim. Her loving, empathetic nature will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. One of her guiding principles was 'It's the right thing to do' and everyone who met her was touched by that notion. Her commitment to education led her to teach and to earn a college degree. Her creative talents were many and she published songs, played classical piano, wrote poetry and gave memorable book reviews. Everyone who knew her loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harry and Mary K. Eisenstein Educational Endowment Fund, 3003 Sholom Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78230. Graveside service at Agudas Achim Cemetery in San Antonio.
