Hugh graduated from Union City High School in 1937, and he was in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #237 of Union City, Pa. Hugh returned to Union City, Pa. after the World War II and started his own business called "Rose Electric". He had a store on Main Street, for 16 years and also trained others in his craft over the years.
Hugh is survived by his loving companion; Ellie Bastian, a brother; Harry Rose, a daughter Penny Rose Schawler and granddaughters Stephanie and Christine Schawler. Nephews Jack, Bill, and Chris Rose and their families and nieces Nancy Rose Jackson and Portia Rose and their families. Hugh was preceded in death by both his parents, a brother Arthur Rose, a sister Charlotte Cockrum, a son Marty Rose, and two previous wives, June Rose and Reva Rose. Hugh was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by many.
Friends are invited to call at the GLENN FUNERAL HOME, 62 South Main Street, Union City, Pa. on Thursday, October 2, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. and attend funeral services there on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Linda Chambers of the First United Methodist Church of Union City, Pa. will officiate with interment in Union Cemetery, Phillipsville, Pa. Memorials are requested to the Union City Senior Center, 20 Johnson Street, Union City, Pa. 16438.
