Charles W. Brandon, resident of Menlo Park, died at his home in Menlo Park, CA on October 27, 2011. Charles was born in Natchitoches, LA and lived most of his childhood in Memphis, Tn. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School and Rhodes College. After graduating from college he worked as a research assistant at William F. Bowld Hospital in Memphis. He was later instrumental in the formation of the Federal Express Corporation, where he served as a vice president of the company from its inception. His favorite hobby was flying and he owned several airplanes. He was happiest when he was flying in the sky in the "Honey Bunny." Charles leaves a sister, Betty Drumm (Tom) of Mississippi, two nephews, David and Paul Whalen, of Mississippi, four great nephews and one great niece. He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Virginia Brandon of Bedford, Texas. A memorial service is scheduled for December 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Stanford Memorial Church, Stanford University, 450 Serra Mall, Stanford, CA. All are welcome. The family requests that donations be made to Smile Train, Inc. Crippen & Flynn Woodside Chapel. 650-369-4103.
