Lucy, as her many friends called her, was born October 13, 1911 in Elgin, Illinois, graduated from Elgin High School in 1930 and married Elmore Arthur Heppner in 1935. They raised 4 daughters: Susan Wegl, Linda Claffey, Nancy Cotterill and Sally Mayhill in Round Lake, Illinois where Mr. Heppner launched and built a successful electronics business.

She and her beloved husband, "Hep", celebrated 58 years of marriage before he went to the Lord in 1993. They were blessed with nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren with a 13th on the way.

She volunteered her time and resources throughout her life. She was one of the founders of the Round Lake Library, a multi-term elder of the Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for 20 years and spent 16 years organizing groups and helping to raise funds for the PTA, Band Boosters and other school related organizations. She was an avid gardener, antiques collector, cook, a devoted wife to her husband, and loving mother to her daughters all of her life.

Services November 27, 2012 at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church with calling there prior to the service. Burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Garden next to her husband. Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements. [Taken from Indianapolis Star online obituary]
