Gustave F. Miller, 84, suffered a heart attack Friday noon and died at 3:15 a.m. today at his home, 714 E. Ninth street.
The body will lie in state at the Baxter-Ritger Funeral Home until tomorrow afternoon, when it will be taken to the Miller home. The Rev. G. M. Krueger of Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate at funeral services Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the home, and burial will be made in Hillside cemetery.
Mr. Miller was born in Germany April 2, 1860, and when he was seven years old he came to America with his parents and settled in Waukegan, Ill. Seven years later they moved to the Town of Wien.
After his marriage to Augusta Ohse in the Town of Wien March 17, 1888, the Millers moved to McPherson County in South Dakota. Before coming to their present home in 1911, they resided in Fenwood.
Surviving besides Mrs. Miller are two daughters, Mrs. L. F. (Florence) Reed, Marshfield, and Mrs. Fred (Josephine) Westlund, Chicago, who will arrive here tonight for the funeral. Two sons, George and Ernest, preceded him in death, the former at the age of 18 in 1912 and the latter killed in World War I when he was 26.
There are five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Another grandchild, Cpl. Russell Reed, was killed in action in Italy Oct. 13, 1943.
