Charles was living with his father in Ewan
when he enlisted in the Marines 30 June 1967
at a Philadelphia Recruiting Office in PA.
When Charles arrived in Vietnam 22 December
1967 he was assigned to Charlie Company,3rd
Shore Party Battalion,3rd Marine Division.
Charles was part of a convoy that was travel-
ing on Highway QL-9 when the convoy was
ambushed by hostile forces,1 kilometer away
from Ca Lu Airfield.Charles died as a result
of fragmentation wounds to the body from a
hostile explosive device.The Marines lost 18
men and 1 Corpsman during the ambush.
Survived by his father,Charles B Sickler of
Main St,Ewan,NJ and his mother;Barbara J
Sickler of Lot #35,Harrisonville Mobile Home
Park,Mullica Hill,NJ.
