Mary Ann Johnson Cannon, resident of the Williston Community, retired nursing assistant and wife of the late Jessie Ed Cannon died Thursday morning, November 22, 2012 at her residence. She was 70 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Cannon will be at 2 Monday afternoon at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Jim Perry of Moscow officiating. A reading of a poem written by Wanda Davis, Mrs. Cannon's daughter will be read by Mitch Stark.

Interment will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. A visitation for Mrs. Cannon will be from 6 to 8 Sunday evening at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville.

Mrs. Cannon was born August 13, 1942 in Collierville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Johnson and Beatrice Pruitt Johnson. She received her education in the Collierville Public School System and had lived in the Williston Community for the past 21 years. Mrs. Cannon was a lifelong resident of Fayette County.

She was married December 1960 to Jessie Ed Cannon. Mr. Cannon preceded her in death on March 31, 1992. She was employed at the Gallaway Health Care Center for 15 years before her retirement a number of years ago. A Baptist, Mrs. Cannon had a lifelong love for children and animals. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, wife and grandmother who received much pleasure from flower gardening and gospel music.

Mrs. Cannon is survived by three daughters, Patricia Kimery (Ralph) of Moscow, Wanda Davis (Mitch) of Collierville, Penny Gosser of the Williston Community; her son, Jessie Ed Cannon, Jr. (Patricia) of Mountain Home, AR; three sisters, Kay Francis of Spooner, WI, Dorothy Blair of Memphis, Margie New of Oakland; her brother, Harold "Butch" Johnson of Murfreesboro; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers will be Mitch Stark, Jason Davis, Michael Davis, Greg Kimery, Wesley Cannon and Kevin Treadway.

Honorary casketbearers will be Tommy York, Ralph Kimery and Stevie Lipford.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fayette County Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 44, Rossville, TN 38066.
