"The death of Harvey Lyman Smith took place Sunday morning at the home of his wife's nephew, Erwin Dunkel, of valvular heart trouble with which he had suffered for some time, although his condition had not been regarded as serious. Mr. Smith was about seventy-two years of age and was a native of the town of Middlefield. In his younger days he taught in the public schools of the locality and later married Miss Harriet House and for the greater part of his life lived on the farm at Lentsville. The death of Mrs. Smith took place September 4, 1909, and June 10th last he moved to the home of Mr. Dunkel at Cherry Valley ... Surviving are two brothers, George A. Smith of Cooperstown and Charles Smith of Richfield Springs. The funeral was held at the home of Mr. Dunkel on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with interment in Lakewood cemetery."
