Samuel R. Baumgardner, 84, of 1075 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg, died Sunday at The Lutheran Retirement Home. He was born in Fairfield and was the son of the late Amos and Daisy (Speelman) Baumgardner. His wife, Blanche E. (McDannell) Baumgardner, died in 1986.

He was the owner and operator of a service station in Seven Stars. He also worked for the Reading and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroads and The Western Maryland Railroads. He was a member of AARP and the Cashtown Fire Co.

He is survived by two sons: Ray E. Baumgardner, Biglerville; John S. Baumgardner, Aspers; brother: Brent Baumgardner, Sharminstown; two step-sisters: Hazel Lafferty and Myrtle Ditzler, both of Gettysburg; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services held at Peters Funeral Home, Gettysburg, with the Rev. Daniel Biles III officiating. Burial will be in Flohr's Church Cemetery.
