WARNER--At his home in Longmont, Saturday, August 5, 1905, of rheumatism of the heart, James Mortimer Warner, aged 50 years, 3 months and 4 days.
The news of the death of a prominent citizen always comes as a shock, and that J. M. Warner was no exception. We have known him since he came to Longmont and had a high regard for him as a man of the strictest integrity, good business qualifications and true manhood. He was a member of Mountain Valley camp, No. 31. W. O. W., but was not what is usually termed a "lodge man", for he loved his home and family above everything else, and was usually at his own fireside when the duties of the day were done.
Mr. Warner was born in New Orleans, La., May 1, 1855, and moved to Marengo Iowa, in 1874, where he engaged the drug business after which was the editor of the Marengo Democrat. He with his parents removed to Longmont, Colo., July 1881. The year previous he was married to Miss Minnie E. Wilson, daughter of Rev. John Wilson of Longmont, and after arriving in Longmont he with his brother opened a small furniture store and has continued in that line ever since, building up the business by careful application till the large stock of goods tells of his success.
He leaves a wife and seven children and two brothers Willis and Frank. His father died in 1889 and his mother followed in 1903.
Funeral services were held at the residence Tuesday afternoon, and a large number of friends testified to the high esteem in which Mr. Warner was held, Rev. C. J. Howell conducted the services at the house, and the W. O.W. at the grave.
